Oral Cancer Screening assists us to identify cancer when it’s in the early stages. If identified early enough, mouth cancer can be treated successfully.
There are various areas where oral cancer can grow such as the lips, gums, the roof of the mouth, under the tongue and inside of the throat. Oral cancer can develop in individuals at any age, it is known that smoking and heavy alcohol use can increase an individual’s chance of developing oral cancer.
At Fairwood Dental we use a diagnostic system called Velscope in conjunction with head and neck exam to identify conditions that can lead to Oral cancer.
When you visit our office for your normal oral hygiene check up and dental exam, we will perform a screening for oral cancer. If we suspect anything during the examination, we will provide you with information about oral cancer and complete further testing.
