What Is a Root Canal?
Root canal refers to the inner space of the tooth, which is located inside the roots and crown and contains pulp of the tooth (nerve and blood supply) and if the area becomes infected or inflamed a root canal therapy procedure may be required by our Burlington dental office.
What Causes Root Canals problems?
A root canal problem is often caused by decay or trauma and usually causes a high level of discomfort and if an infection develops in the pulp tissues within the tooth, the pain could become immensely uncomfortable. If the condition is left untreated, it could lead to the formation of abscess in your tooth, or even result in tooth loss.
The goal of a root canal treatment caters to the removal of the pulp from the canals within the tooth which eliminates any pain that may be caused by the tooth. The procedure is generally done by numbing the area requiring treatment. We use the most advanced anesthetic techniques when performing root canal treatments on our patients.
